This Sunday is Mother’s Day. We can hardly think of a person whose job — a labor of love — has more importance to a child, a family, a household, a neighborhood, a society. Mother is the rock, a foundation of a Home. Mother is the first and most important teacher, and as such every child is their Mother’s garden. Every garden requires lots of work, care, patience, and love. We take our Mother’s work, care, patience, and love without often thinking twice of the sacrifice she makes for us. Yet, her love and care keeps on coming. Her love never dries up.
This Mother’s Day, forget the chocolates, jewelry, and perfumes. Offer your Mom the greatest gifts of them all — your company, your words of appreciation, your love and care.
If you agree that you are your Mother’s garden, share with her this simple poem that trembled our voices as we read it and brought sweet tears of love into our eyes:
by Staci Warren
My Mother kept a garden,
A garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
That gave my life its start.
She turned me to the sunshine
And encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-self-esteem.
And when the wind and rain came,
She protected me enough —
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong —
Markers for my pathway
That will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy,
And I hope today she feels the love
Reflected back from me!
Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for your love and care.
With love for the Elderly…
